UNSW is seeking a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to explore quantum gravity in a spin-mechanical device. The role involves experimental and theoretical research, focusing on quantum hardware development and collaboration with external partners. Ideal candidates will have a PhD and experience in nano-mechanical systems.
Join to apply for the Research Associate / Senior Research Associate – Quantum gravity in a spin-mechanical device role at UNSW.
The research group of Professor Andrea Morello is seeking a postdoctoral Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to explore quantum gravity and hybrid quantum systems. The team specializes in quantum hardware development using spins of implanted donors and silicon nanoelectronic devices. The project aims to develop mechanical devices functioning at the quantum level.
This position involves experimental and theoretical research, collaborating with external partners. The goal is to demonstrate quantum-mechanical coupling between a single nuclear spin in silicon and a mechanical resonator's quantized motion, serving as a testbed for theories on quantum mechanics and gravity.
Ideal candidates will have expertise in mechanical systems at the quantum limit, nano- and opto-mechanics, circuit-QED, and hybrid quantum systems. The role reports to Scientia Professor Andrea Morello and has no direct reports.
UNSW is a leading research university committed to diversity and excellence, with a vibrant community and a history of groundbreaking contributions to electrical engineering and quantum computing.
