Job summary

A leading health research organization in Windsor, Canada, is seeking a Research Associate or Post-Doctoral Fellow to develop strategies using disease surveillance data to enhance health sector supply chains. Research Associate or Post-Doctoral Fellow - Hospital Supply Chain Resiliency

Join to apply for the Research Associate or Post-Doctoral Fellow - Hospital Supply Chain Resiliency role at INSPIRE: Integrated Network for the Surveillance of Pathogens.

The Research Associate will lead a research initiative to develop proactive strategies using disease surveillance data to inform health sector supply chains and procurement. The ideal candidate will be familiar with hospital administration and health sector procurement and demonstrate competency in the analysis of epidemiological data. The position is remote (some travel may be required).

Responsibilities
  1. Project Management and Coordination:
    • Lead a team that will liaise with rural hospitals as part of a retrospective analysis to bridge disease surveillance (wastewater surveillance data) with health sector supply chains and procurement.
    • Run simulations with SCAN Health and their hospital partners.
    • Analyze and interpret wastewater-based epidemiology data to identify trends that may affect hospital operations (e.g., surges in respiratory or gastrointestinal illness).
  2. Training and Knowledge Translation:
    • Mentor trainees and co-op students.
  3. Collect and Report Metrics:
    • Prepare and submit reports and peer-reviewed publications for academic and operational audiences.
    • Collect and report on metrics.
Reporting

This position will report to the INSPIRE Director, Dr. Mike McKay.

Qualifications
Required
  • Familiarity with Ontario or Canadian healthcare systems.
  • Knowledge of general supply chain management.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Experience with Ontario health system data (e.g., ICES, CIHI, GEMINI datasets).
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Proficiency with software packages supporting virtual teams, learning, communications, and analytics.
Preferred
  • PhD or other terminal degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, or related field.
  • Strong programming skills in R, SAS, or Python.
