Research Associate, Adaptation

Canadian Climate Institute

Location: Work From Home - Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and other regions in Canada

Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000 depending on qualifications and experience

The Role

Reporting to the Research Director, the Research Associate will support the Adaptation team in identifying and executing research projects to improve climate change adaptation policy in Canada. Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, data synthesis and analysis, writing for publications, collaborating with various research teams, developing communication strategies, and stakeholder engagement.

The team focuses on proactive adaptation policies to enhance Canada's resilience against climate impacts, involving governance and policy innovation across multiple sectors.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental or Climate Change Studies, Resource Management, or related fields with relevant policy research experience.
  • Experience with quantitative research, climate impact modeling, and data interpretation.
  • Strong research, writing, and project management skills.
  • At least 2 years of policy research experience, including literature review and data analysis.
  • Interest in climate change, energy, and resource policy.
  • Bilingual in French and English is a strong asset.
  • Self-directed, independent, and collaborative work skills.
