Job Opportunity: Research Associate 2, Lawson

Location: St. Joseph's Hospital, London, ON

Type: Temporary Full Time (until approximately June 30, 2030, with potential renewal)

Salary Range: $41.82 - $52.27/hour

The Lawson Research Institute, in partnership with London Health Sciences Centre and Western University, is seeking a staff Radiochemist for its Cyclotron & Radiochemistry facility. This facility produces radioisotopes for PET imaging, crucial for early and accurate detection of diseases.

The successful candidate will report to the facility director and be part of a research/clinical team. Responsibilities include developing PET tracers, validating manufacturing processes, authoring SOPs, preparing compliance packages, ensuring regulatory compliance, training staff, troubleshooting, operating equipment, and supporting research needs.

Essential Qualifications
  • M.Sc or Ph.D in chemistry
  • Minimum 1 year experience in PET or SPECT radiochemistry
  • Consent to working as a Nuclear Energy Worker in a radioactive environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Publication record in PET or SPECT radiochemistry
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry testing (HPLC, GC, radio detectors)
  • Skills in synthetic organic chemistry
  • Knowledge of GMP and regulatory systems (FDA, EMA, etc.)
  • Experience with quality management systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with good organization and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines
  • Knowledge of environmental health and radioprotection
  • Proficiency with computer systems and laboratory equipment
Immunization Requirements
  • Vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza
  • Documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing
