Job description

Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

We are seeking a biologist or bioengineer to collaborate in a team to innovate scalable bioreactor processes on the Lonza Cocoon platform, with a focus on cell-based immunotherapy manufacturing.

The role involves developing innovative cell manufacturing processes, particularly engaged in a new magnetic separation system. The successful candidate will complete experiments on the Lonza Cocoon platform, assisting in process technology transfer.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct cell-based assays at the laboratory bench under the mentorship of a technical lead for cell therapy manufacturing processes.
  2. Analyze experimental data critically to improve processes and support their incorporation into clinical cell production.
  3. Present results to advise supervisors and team members.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, or related field.
  2. At least 2 years of laboratory benchwork experience.
  3. Extensive knowledge of aseptic cell culture techniques, with a preference for T-cell culture.
  4. Experience with magnetic separation is preferred.
  5. Experience performing biological analysis assays such as flow cytometry, immunostaining, ELISA, etc., is preferred.
  6. Background in data analysis and statistics.
  7. Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
