Job description
Overview

This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA). In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $59,822 to $82,266. This position has an initial appointment of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.

Location

This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Responsibilities

This is a new position with two main areas of responsibility: 1) Vaccine and antiviral drug discovery and testing 2) Support for operation of large Containment Level 3 (CL3) facility. The position works closely with the Biocontainment Supervisor and the University’s Biosafety Office while reporting to the Chair of the CL3 user committee. The position also liaises with the Director of Operations and Research for the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology (LKSIoV) regarding administration and operation of the CL3 facility. The incumbent’s primary duties are to support the operations and maintenance of the CFI-funded CL3 facility and equipment within the facility (50%), and to conduct discovery research (50%).
