This position supports projects within Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV) and reports to the Manager, Virtual Care. The major projects associated with this role will be related to digital health evaluation and will leverage large administrative datasets.

WIHV aims to improve heath by working to develop, implement, and evaluate innovations in clinical care and policy. WIHV’s philosophy is to engage and collaborate with all players in health care to deliver tangible solutions that improve the health system as a whole. WIHV’s goal is to inspire innovation and enable Ontario’s most promising leaders to transform their ideas into practical, scalable solutions.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Assist with the day-to-day tasks involved in research studies involving digital health projects:
    • Conduct literature searches to assist in protocol development
    • Assist the project team with research ethics applications and data requests including preparing amendments to the applications
    • Conduct participant recruitment/enrollment and informed consent processes
    • Perform data collection, maintenance, and analysis including but not limited to:
      • Participate in review of data collection strategies
      • Support and maintenance of web-based surveys
      • Quantitative data collection and transfer to appropriate database
      • Computer statistical analysis
      • Qualitative data collection and transfer to appropriate database
    • Assist with the modification and maintenance of electronic and paper information, filing/retrieval methods, systems and/or formats
    • Generate figures, data summaries, status reports, and other statistical reports as required
    • Communicate data including developing tables and figures
  • Assist with preparing materials for project deliverables and presentations
  • Assist with necessary data flow between internal and external collaborators
  • Participate in research meetings, including preparing meeting minutes
  • Assist with grant and report writing and submissions; prepare forms, budgets, appendices, and other documents as required
  • Assist with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals; may involved creating tables, figures, proofreading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign, and electronic submission

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in health sciences and/or other health-related discipline
  • 2 years’ experience, including experience with data collection preferred
  • Basic quantitative data analysis experience considered an asset
  • Experience working with and maintaining web-based surveys is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong independent working and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work well in a deadline-oriented and team-based environment with competing priorities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the PHIPA
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with WCH standards
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
