Job description

Research Assistant - RNA Therapeutics Core Facility

We are seeking a talented Research Assistant to join the RNA Therapeutics Core Facility at the Sidney-Altman Hub, Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM). This role involves establishing core services and executing research activities, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative RNA therapies and biology.

Responsibilities include :

  • Project management and execution :
  • Design and plan RNA therapeutic projects with the core facility manager.
  • Perform laboratory work such as synthesis, purification, and NGS of plasmids and vectors, RNA design, in vitro synthesis, quality control assays (HPLC, Nanodrop, ELISA, Flow Cytometry), and formulation of lipid nanoparticles.
  • Screening in cell culture for dose-response effects.
  • Assist in oligonucleotide synthesis and purification.
  • Develop and optimize molecular biology techniques for plasmid and template analysis.
  • Create and interpret experimental data following GLP guidelines.
  • Establish quality control measures for RNA, oligonucleotides, and nanolipid particles.

Operational and collaborative duties :

  • Contribute to service development for the RNA core facility.
  • Support collaborations with partner labs, institutions, and clients.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field.
  • 2-3 years industry experience.
  • Skills in cell culture, PCR, RNA synthesis, HPLC, FPLC, Mass Spectrometry, Capillary Electrophoresis, Lipid nanoparticles, DLS, UF / DF, Nanodrop.
  • Strong background in mammalian and bacterial cell culture, cloning, amplification, transcription, translation, and bioanalytical techniques.

Knowledge and skills :

  • Experience with therapeutic RNA applications and RNA biology principles.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office, Smart Sheets, Project, Excel.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of oligonucleotide synthesis, ligation, cGMP, LIMS, and QMS.

Working conditions :

  • Full-time temporary position (35 hrs / week) with potential extension.
