Description

The Department of Psychology - Admin within the Faculty of Arts invites applications for a Research Assistant position. This is a Fixed Term Recurring Part-time role for approximately 7 months, with a possibility of extension, based on grant funding.

This position reports to Dr. Daniel McGrath, the Principal Investigator. The role involves working on multiple research projects, including literature searches, data collection, project coordination, and statistical analyses, focusing on individuals with substance use disorders and disordered gambling.

This is a remote, recurring part-time position until December 31, 2025, with potential renewal. The primary responsibilities include managing day-to-day research activities, communicating effectively with participants, maintaining research databases, and ensuring project compliance with ethics protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit participants via Prolific.
  • Conduct diagnostic screens/interviews using Qualtrics.
  • Perform cognitive psychology experiments with Qualtrics.
  • Track participant completion and manage compensation.
  • Create and manage research databases using Excel.
  • Assist with literature reviews, proofreading, developing presentations, and creating posters under guidance.
  • Support data analysis as directed.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to laboratory projects.
Qualifications
  • Honours undergraduate degree in Psychology (with thesis).
  • Postgraduate degree in Psychology or related fields (e.g., sociology, public health, occupational therapy).
  • Research assistant experience in a psychology lab.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, participant recruitment, and data management.
  • Experience with Qualtrics and Zoom.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
