Position Description:

Position Title: Research Assistant I

Immediate Supervisor: Dr. Sara Tremblay

Research Area: Neuromodulation treatments (rTMS); Neuroimaging; Electroencephalography

Clinical population: Mood disorders

Reporting Supervisor: Manager, Neuromodulation Research Clinic

Start date: July 28th, 2025

Contract: Temporary Part-Time (0.3 FTE); 1-year contract

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant I (RA) provides research support under the supervision of the Supervisor/Principal Investigator and Research Manager. The RA will assist with data collection in projects involving neuropsychiatric assessments, delivery of rTMS treatments, and neurophysiology testing for major depressive disorder. Responsibilities include recruiting and screening participants, maintaining study records, scheduling visits, creating participant records, and database management. The candidate will promote a diverse, team-oriented, and compliant workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and screening participants.
  • Scheduling and conducting clinical interviews.
  • Ensuring recruitment targets and protocol adherence.
  • Managing research ethics submissions and reporting adverse events.
  • Maintaining regulatory binders, databases, and participant records.
  • Collecting neuroimaging data at Royally's Brain Imaging Center.
  • Conducting baseline/clinical interviews and entering/verifying data.
  • Following policies, safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Assisting with financial transactions and preparing presentation materials.
  • Supporting administration of rTMS, TMS, and EEG procedures.
  • Developing Standard Operating Procedures and performing administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree; Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, or Neuroscience preferred.
  • At least six months of experience in a clinical research environment preferred.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses is a strong asset.
  • Motivated to work in clinical research.
  • Knowledge of statistical software, Microsoft Office, REDCap; programming in Matlab is an asset.
  • Experience with EEG, neuroimaging, or brain stimulation is a strong asset.
  • Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of research principles, Good Clinical Practices, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, under pressure, and with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, motivated, and highly organized.
