Position Description:

Position Title: Research Assistant I

Immediate Supervisor: Dr. Sara Tremblay

Research Area: Neuromodulation treatments (rTMS); Neuroimaging; Electroencephalography

Clinical Population: Mood disorders

Reporting Supervisor: Manager, Neuromodulation Research Clinic

Start Date: July 28th, 2025

Contract: Temporary Part-Time (0.3 FTE); 1-year contract

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant I (RA) provides research support under the supervision of the Supervisor/Principal Investigator and Research Manager. Responsibilities include data collection, conducting and scoring neuropsychiatric assessments, delivering rTMS treatments, and neurophysiology testing for major depressive disorder. The RA will primarily recruit and screen study participants and maintain study records. Administrative duties include scheduling visits, creating participant records, and database management. The RA supports a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and screening of participants.
  • Scheduling and conducting clinical interviews.
  • Ensuring recruitment targets and protocol adherence.
  • Managing ethics submissions and reporting adverse events or protocol violations.
  • Maintaining regulatory binders, databases, and participant records.
  • Collecting neuroimaging data at the Brain Imaging Center.
  • Assisting in baseline/clinical interviews and data entry.
  • Following protocols and quality assurance standards.
  • Supporting administrative and financial tasks related to the study.
  • Assisting with the administration of rTMS, TMS, and EEG procedures.
  • Developing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performing other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree; Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, or Neuroscience preferred.
  • Minimum six months experience in a clinical or medical research environment preferred.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Professional communication within a complex research environment.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses is a strong asset.
  • Motivated to work in clinical research.
  • Proficiency with statistical software (SPSS, R), Microsoft Office, REDCap, and Windows OS; programming in Matlab is an asset.
  • Experience with EEG, neuroimaging, or brain stimulation is a strong asset.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Basic research principles knowledge; understanding of GCP and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, organized, and motivated.
