Position Title: Research Assistant I
Immediate Supervisor: SBC Coordinator & SBC Director
Reporting Supervisor: Director Clinical Research Administration, IMHR
Contract: Temporary, full time, 37.5/week; 1 year
The Sexual Behaviours Clinic (SBC) has an immediate opportunity for a Research Assistant I.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant I (RA) provides research support under the supervision of the Supervisor/Principal Investigator, Research Coordinator, Research Associate, and/or Research Manager, as applicable.
Major Responsibilities:
- Research project implementation:
- Follow IMHR policies, procedures, and objectives, including quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control requirements for all field and laboratory operations.
- Conduct screening interviews to collect participant data.
- Obtain clinical data on research participants.
- Maintain detailed notes of interactions and transfer data to the appropriate system.
- Enter and verify data using databases and protocols.
- Ensure data quality during collection and analysis.
- Organize data independently.
- Assist in maintaining electronic and paper data management systems.
- Monitor supply inventory and report on equipment and supply effectiveness.
- Coordinate with research collaborators, ethics staff, study sponsors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with research ethics and scientific review processes.
- Grant, Manuscript, Abstract, and Presentation Preparation:
- Assist in preparing materials for presentations, publications, or grants.
- Organize and draft correspondence and documents.
- Help draft grant applications, abstracts, manuscripts, and protocols, ensuring deadlines and specifications are met.
- Support literature searches and maintain bibliographic databases.
- Financial Management:
- Manage financial transactions related to grants and research activities.
- Assist in developing budgets and liaising with administration.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in team meetings and SBC initiatives.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in progress or completed.
- Minimum six months experience in a clinical research environment (preferred).
- Experience with Forensic Mental Health, sexual interests/behaviours, and vulnerable populations.
- Bilingual in French and English (asset).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Resource organization and priority setting skills.
- Effective communication within complex research environments.
- Basic research principles and methodology knowledge.
- Understanding of research regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in data management and software, including SPSS (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and in teams, with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and computer skills.
