Description

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) Calgary Site Research Coordinator under the direction of the Local Site Principal Investigator.

Following established standard operating procedures, the Research Assistant will assist in data collection with study participants, including contacting and managing CLSA participants, conducting interviews in-home and on-site using various questionnaires and physical assessment measures, while ensuring data accuracy and proper documentation.

This is a recurring part-time position. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Promptly completing assigned tasks
  • Conducting interviews and data collection
  • Maintaining ethical and confidentiality standards
  • Assisting in project implementation
  • Managing study participants and conducting in-home interviews to ensure quality data collection
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with research team members and participants
  • Observing proper research methodology and handling research materials appropriately
  • Performing daily/weekly/monthly quality control of laboratory equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining wearable devices and equipment
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with the public
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous research experience is a strong asset
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Positive attitude in the work environment
  • Access to a vehicle for in-home visits
