Title: Research Assistant – Empowering Patients: Assessing and Advancing AskEllyn.ai in Breast Cancer Support

JOB SUMMARY

Join our research team on an innovative project aimed at evaluating and enhancing AskEllyn.ai, an AI-driven chatbot designed to provide personalized peer support for breast cancer (BC) patients and caregivers across Canada. This mixed-methods study will generate evidence to improve the platform’s usability, accessibility, and inclusivity, ensuring it better meets the needs of diverse BC populations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Research Assistant (RA) will play a key role in supporting all phases of the study, from data collection to analysis and dissemination. Responsibilities will include administering surveys, conducting qualitative interviews, coding and analyzing data, and contributing to the development of actionable recommendations to improve AskEllyn.ai. This role provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on research experience in digital health, patient-centered care, and oncology support initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and monitor usability surveys
  • Conduct and transcribe qualitative interviews with patients and caregivers
  • Assist with data coding and analysis using NVivo and SPSS (or similar software)
  • Support the Content Validity Index (CVI) process to prioritize improvements
  • Collaborate with the research team through regular meetings
  • Contribute to reports, knowledge translation materials, and dissemination activities (with opportunities for co-authorship)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, nursing, psychology, public health, or a related field (completed or ongoing)
  • Enrollment in or completion of a graduate program in a related field (graduate position)
  • Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Familiarity with health technology, patient support tools, or oncology research is an asset

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with NVivo and SPSS (or equivalent) is an asset

DECISION MAKING

  • Prioritize and manage assigned tasks efficiently
  • Identify issues and refer appropriately to project leads
  • Act as a resource for research-related inquiries within the project team
