The Slaight Family Centre is a donor funded clinical research program for youth in transition, who are at-risk for, or at early stages of severe mental illness. The main goal of the Slaight Family Centre is to put more young people with severe mental illness on a path to recovery, through the development of new treatments, enhancement of early detection efforts, and clinical brain research.

CAMH is seeking a full-time, one (1) year contract Research Assistant 2 who will provide support to the Centre’s research team/projects. Reporting to the Research Operations Manager and working with interdisciplinary teams, the incumbent will assist the research team on a number of research related activities including: participant screening, recruitment, education and dissemination of information about studies to patients, families and mental health professionals, and liaising with clinicians/treating psychiatrists to facilitate recruitment. You will be required to facilitate recruitment for multiple studies and will participate in projects/tasks as assigned. Your duties will also include scheduling participant interviews, assessing patients for potential involvement in research, accompanying participants for laboratory/MRI visits as well as other procedural visits, as needed. Additional study related duties include preparing and maintaining participant records; maintaining study databases (ex: REDCap, ACCESS), data entry, database maintenance and preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers. You will also be required to assist with the following: Regulatory submissions, supporting in the preparation of progress reports and power point presentations. Other administrative duties are also required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West. Some evening shifts may be required.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have a 3 years’ of community college in psychology or neuroscience combined with one (1) year of relevant clinical or research experience with individuals and/or families with mental health and addiction issues. Previous experience supporting research with human participants (booking, scheduling, and monitoring participant appointments). Familiarity with clinical trials, brain stimulation modalities, or digital health interventions is an asset. Candidates will also have demonstrated ability to gather, organize and enter information from questionnaires into computer databases as well as maintaining filing systems. Proficiency with word processing, PowerPoint and database software packages is required. Experience coordinating complex scheduling needs in required. The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and diverse stakeholders is essential. Demonstrated strong communications skills (both oral and written) are required as is the ability to explain complex issues in plain language. The candidate will be detail oriented, well organized, with the ability to meet deadlines and to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
