Research Assistant 1, Lawson - 1 position

Location: Lawson, St. Joseph's Hospital - London, ON

Type: Temporary Full Time

Salary Range: $26.01 - $32.51 /hour

This temporary full-time position is available until approximately May 25, 2026, with the potential for renewal, subject to the availability of work.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Montero-Odasso, Director of the Gait & Brain Laboratory, and a senior project manager, within a multidisciplinary research team at Parkwood Institute. The research focuses on interventional studies related to mobility and cognition in older adults. The incumbent will join a recently funded national virtual trial aimed at improving mobility and cognition.

Main duties include conducting remote cognitive and mobility assessments, coaching older adults on lifestyle modifications (exercise, cognitive training, diet, sleep, vascular risk factors), and managing day-to-day operations of the study, including recruitment and assessments in accordance with IRB/REB regulations. The position requires compliance with research protocols, policies, and regulations. It is a 5-day (37.5 hours/week) position.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field
  • Experience in clinical trials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Flexibility, initiative, and self-direction
  • Comfort with technology such as Teams/Zoom and online platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with LHRI policies and procedures
  • Certified Personal Trainer or Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Graduate degree in basic or health sciences
  • Certification in effective coaching
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, and influenza
  • Documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing
