Job Summary:
The Rotman Research Institute is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function with a primary research focus on memory and the executive functions of the brain, both in normal aging and in the presence of neurological diseases and conditions which affect the brain. The Division of Neurology and the Baycrest Sam & Ida Ross Memory Clinic have an opportunity for an on-site Research Assistant.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serves as primary contact for multiple studies/sites
- Recruits and screens patients for eligibility for current studies based on established criteria
- Conducts and documents informed consent
- Monitors study progress and reports any significant events to manager and ensures proper documentation and follow-up
- Generates study-specific case report forms (CRFs)
- Records study data into CRFs, query resolution, and responding to data queries
- Prepares for study monitor visits and audits
- Serves as a liaison to physicians, investigators, participants and other staff members regarding the research process
- Submits and reviews Research Ethics Board documents
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, neuroscience, psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience with neurobehavioural and neurocognitive assessments (e.g., MoCA, MMSE, Severe Impairment Battery, Clinician's Interview-Based Impression of Change etc.)
- Prior experience conducting or supporting research studies in cognition, memory, dementia, or related fields
- Experience and training in phlebotomy is considered an asset
- Current TCPS2 and GCP certifications
- Experience with data capture applications (e.g. REDCap)
- Experience working with a geriatric population with neurodegenerative diseases, and their caregivers
- Ability to function independently and collaboratively
- Excellent personal, time management, and organizational skills
