About the Organization

The Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) is an interdisciplinary vaccine research team committed to developing and evaluating vaccines for infectious diseases impacting Canadian and global health. Located in Halifax at the IWK Health Centre, CCfV is a collaboration between Dalhousie University, IWK Health Centre, and Nova Scotia Health Authority. More info at www.centerforvaccinology.ca.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Finance, CCfV, the Research and Innovation Business Development Officer leads activities supporting research innovation and economic growth within the Faculty of Medicine, focusing on initiatives led by CCfV and GMP BioLabs East.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct market research to identify trends, funding opportunities, and potential partnerships in vaccine research and biomedical innovation.
  2. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with academic institutions, industry, and government agencies.
  3. Prepare business proposals and support funding efforts through grants, donor engagement, and presentations.
  4. Oversee financial planning for business development activities, including budgeting and donor fund management.
  5. Support contract negotiations, grant compliance, and alignment of research efforts.
  6. Create reports on progress, outcomes, and impact for stakeholders and funding partners.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, business administration, or related field, with at least three years of experience in business development, grants, and financial oversight, preferably in an academic or research setting.
  • Understanding of biomedical or life sciences sectors, including research processes and industry trends.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and relevant systems.
Assets
  • Graduate degree in biomedical research, business, or innovation management.
  • Experience with donors, sponsors, or external stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
