The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is seeking a temporary, full-time (six-month) contract Research Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director, Research and Knowledge Mobilization, and work closely with other team members across the organization.

Over the past several years, massive environmental and behavioural shifts have occurred in gambling jurisdictions around the world including the legalization of single-event sports betting in Canada. As a Research Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to assist with an ongoing research study examining sports betting throughout Canada.You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment and your excellent time management skills allow you to stay on top of project timelines and solve problems in a self-directed fashion. You possess a strong foundation in research processes and have the ability to learn and adapt as needs change.

RGC is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to gambling harm prevention and mitigation. It is a leading international authority on responsible gambling providing insights to stakeholders through its prevention programs, advisory services, as well as accrediting responsible gambling initiatives offered by gaming operators across the globe. RGC also works to reduce gambling risks by creating and delivering leading-edge awareness and information programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans
  • Synthesize large volumes of information
  • Analyze both quantitative and qualitative researchfrom a variety of sources
  • Communicate findings both verbally and in writing
  • Prepare research ethics applications and amendments as required
  • Use a variety of data collection tools including questionnaires, focus groups, interviews, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with team members as well as staff across the organization
  • Nurture partnerships with external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a graduate degree in a relevant applied research field
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews and environmental scans, and synthesize large volumes of information
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods including analyzing data from a variety of sources to make comparisons, identify relationships and determine trends and implications
  • Ability to clearly and accurately communicate analytical findings and interpretations verbally and in writing
  • Experience preparing research ethics applications and amendments as required
  • Comfortable working in a team and independently
  • Strong initiative and able to multi-task and prioritize projects under tight timelines
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to high quality work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in gambling field an asset

Annual salary for this position ranges from $57,000 to $71,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Compensation will be prorated for the six-month contract period.

The successful candidate will be working remotely.
