Job description

We are looking for a Subrogation Representative to join our team. If you have strong customer focus coupled with well-developed communication, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills, we'd like to know!

Reporting to the National Subrogation Unit Team Leader, the Subrogation Representative is accountable to investigate and negotiate the recovery owed to Definity from the responsible third parties. These types of claims will include personal and auto losses received from claims offices across Canada.

What can you expect in this role?
  • Review and analyze claims for subrogation potential and determine the ultimate probable outcome of recovery
  • Identify and pursue all potential responsible parties
  • Prepare files and documents as well as determine the amount of recovery from the claims file
  • Contact third parties, third party insurers or lawyers to initiate settlement negotiations
  • Manage a large volume of claims files and other subrogation projects as needed
  • Increase subrogation awareness and provide support to our claims partners across Canada
What do you bring to the role?
  • University degree, a 2-year college diploma or working towards your CIP designation
  • 1-3 years of auto claims handling experience required, preference given to subrogation experience
  • Proficient in Word & Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Negotiation experience would be an asset
  • Ability to work in both French and English would be an asset
  • Professional and courteous in all interactions
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions quickly when required

This position is available at any one of the following locations: Halifax, Ottawa, Mississauga, Waterloo, Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver

Salary range is $43,700 - $80,500
