Additional Information

  • Candidates must be members in good standing or in the process of becoming Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) qualified prior to the start date, and be enrolled or have completed their French as a Second Language (FSL), or equivalent, based on Ontario College of Teachers qualifications.
  • If you are external to the YRDSB, you will be prompted to provide at least three professional, supervisory teaching references in the job posting screening section of the online application. We do not contact references prior to practicum/interview.
  • If you are an internal YRDSB employee, please include all previous teaching experiences and two references; one must be a YRDSB administrator.
  • Please note this is a French Immersion position and candidates must meet the Board\'s language standard for French Immersion.
  • As a candidate, in accordance with the Education Act, anyone seeking employment or volunteering must provide a satisfactory police record check. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) must be completed by the police services in the jurisdiction of residence and must be satisfactory to the YRDSB and completed within six (6) months prior to the start date. It is the candidate\'s responsibility to provide the results to the Board upon instruction.

Examples Of Referees Could Include The Following

  • Principal/Vice Principal who has supervised you and can speak to your teaching practice in the panel to which you are applying;
  • Faculty Advisor/Coordinator or Practicum Advisor who has observed and evaluated your teaching practice in a classroom setting;
  • Host/Mentor Teacher who has supervised you and can speak to your teaching practice in an elementary/secondary setting; and/or
  • Professional reference who can speak to your teaching practice.
