Your role
CBC is looking for experienced and dynamic reporters to join us. In this on-call role you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of shifts ranging from early mornings to late nights and weekends and everything in between. If you are passionate about telling stories in local communities, come and join us.
In this role, you will research, gather, package and present stories for audiences on all platforms for CBC News and / or for regional CBC News programs and current affairs. You could be responsible for reporting for all platforms, including both live and taped storytelling. Some days you could be working with a videographer or another CBC colleague. On other days, you’ll be gathering on your own.
You’ll operate independently under the direction of a (producer, senior producer, EP). You’re a self-starter and you’re joining a team where collaboration and communication are essential within your local team and with colleagues across CBC.
You are committed to our audiences and understand the importance of reaching new audiences through your story pitches, the people you choose to interview, and the techniques you use to present stories.
You understand the diverse and changing population across regions and the importance of reflecting underrepresented communities and equity-deserving groups in our content.
You care about the people you work with and live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture and have a deep appreciation for different perspectives, opinions and experiences.
You will ensure that all CBC are met, while providing fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful and immediate coverage to the communities we serve.
These are on-call roles, and you will be working a variety of shifts that could include early mornings, evenings or weekends. While we are looking for experienced journalists, we will set you up for success by providing training on CBC policies, workflows, and tools.
