Position Overview

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping companies, governments and the way we work and live. As Canada's leading news organization, The Globe and Mail is committed to helping readers understand not just the technology itself, but the people, companies and policies driving its use and impact.
We are seeking an ambitious reporter to break news, develop enterprise stories, and craft compelling features that help readers make sense of AI’s impact on the world. The reporter should be relentlessly curious about the technologies shaping our future, but equally focused on the human impact: how AI and other emerging technologies are transforming the lives of ordinary people, businesses and power brokers. Most importantly, the reporter will be able to turn these tectonic shifts into compelling storytelling that readers care about.
The AI reporter is part of the Report on Business section and reports to the AI and technology editor but will collaborate with reporters and editors across the newsroom to deliver authoritative coverage of this consequential and fast-moving beat.

  • Develop sources to break news, produce exclusive stories and write vivid profiles and features

  • Comfortable working in a variety of formats, including live blogs, newsletters, video and audio
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to helping other team members succeed
