Job description

Description:

  1. Provide planning, assessment, and development effort to meet workload demand of the BI reporting enablement activity, which supports program areas within the Ministry of Attorney General.
  2. Work with a Project Manager and Business Areas to evaluate requirements and develop reports/dashboards/data visualizations, utilizing Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder.
  3. Ensure reports/dashboards/data visualizations are properly reviewed for quality assurance and compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA.
  4. Complete all relevant and required documentation to support the completion of the project.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

  1. Participate in requirements gathering sessions to understand the functional and non-functional needs.
  2. Perform assessment and define approach in collaboration with project team and stakeholders to successfully deliver effective BI Solutions.
  3. Design and develop reports/dashboards/data visualizations within Power BI Desktop or Power BI Report Builder.
  4. Troubleshoot and apply corrective actions to resolve issues with BI Solutions discovered during pre-release testing.
  5. Provide relevant and required documentation to support migration activities and knowledge transfer.
  6. Participate in knowledge transfer activities.

Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Experience working in a business intelligence team/environment, developing and delivering business intelligence and/or analytical reports and dashboards.
  2. Experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder to design and develop reports and dashboards.
  3. Experience writing and working with Microsoft Power BI DAX code to implement business logic within Power BI reports.
  4. Experience troubleshooting SQL queries, business intelligence and analytical reports, and performing data analysis for data validation and report accuracy.
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  6. Knowledge of ETL tools, such as Azure Data Factory and Microsoft SSDT.

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated working knowledge of Power BI Desktop (At least 2 years of experience).
  2. Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL query languages (T-SQL, PL-SQL) (At least 4 years of experience).
  3. Demonstrated working knowledge of DAX programming (At least 2 years of experience).

Criteria Ratings:

  1. Technical Knowledge (50 points):
    1. Experience writing Transact-SQL (T-SQL) queries (at least 4 years).
    2. Experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder (at least 2 years).
    3. Experience writing DAX code and performing data modelling within Power BI (at least 2 years).
  2. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills (30 points):
    1. Experience performing technical troubleshooting within a business intelligence environment/team.
    2. Experience analyzing data to resolve quality issues and perform report validation.
    3. Experience working within a team to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
    4. Ability to analyze and implement approved new/re-engineered business process standards.
  3. Communication Skills (20 points):
    1. Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and consultative skills, facilitation skills.
    2. Experience working in a team environment, contributing to team meetings, communicating risks and issues, and explaining technical tasks to non-technical team members.

Knowledge Transfer:

  1. All documentation relating to the technology designs and knowledge specific to the candidate’s assignment.
  2. Information gathered while working with vendors and internal solutions.
  3. Best practices, workarounds, and lessons learned must be documented.
  4. Power BI report and dashboard specifications (PBIX files).

Knowledge Transfer to: Project Manager / Team members.
