TITLE : Replacement DLC Senior Library Technician Technical Services - 35 hours per week
WAGE : $29.62 - $30.90 hourly wage effective July 1, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Senior Library Technician is responsible for the ongoing system maintenance of the SirsiDynix Integrated Library System (ILS). This includes continuous contact with SirsiDynix Customer Care and the Library Relations Manager. The position encompasses the ongoing ILS maintenance of all libraries in School District No. 57, including MediaNet Library Advanced Booking System, as well as copy and original cataloguing.
POSITION DUTIES :
- Supports the ongoing maintenance of the SirsiDynix Integrated Library System
- Responsible for the system configuration of User Profiles, Environments, and User Access
- Creates, modifies, and maintains all library-specific system generated reports
- Processes cancelled order removal reports as per acquisition policy
- Processes circulation policies for each individual school
- Processes daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports run on SirsiDynix
- Checks the status of reports daily in both SirsiDynix and Medianet
- Assists with the installation and maintenance of SirsiDynix soft upgrades with the SirsiDynix, SD57 Technology Department, and Vice-Principal of Curriculum & Instruction Learning Commons
- Compiles and generates statistical reports
- Exports DLC AV resources to Medianet Advanced Booking System
- Catalogues and classifies English and French materials
- Authority control of all catalogue records that have been prepared by other DLC staff
- Responsible for user data extracts (BCeSIS, SDS, CoEd) and load into the library systems SirsiDynix Symphony & Medianet
- Responsible for Rolloverfund and Rollovervendor reports in ILS Acquisition Module to coordinate with district procedures
- Performs other related duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS :
- Successful completion of a 2 year Library Technician diploma program from a post-secondary institution or equivalent
- A minimum of four (4) years working experience with automated cataloguing systems, using an integrated automated library system
- Knowledge and use of Web 2.0
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of SirsiDynix Integrated Library and MediaNet
- Minimum typing skills of 55 wpm or proof of competency in keyboarding skills
- Advanced Booking System or equivalent automated library system
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of MARC formats, Anglo American Cataloguing Rules 2ed. (AACR2), Library of Congress Subject Headings and Authorities (LCSH), Dewey Decimal Classification 23ed. (DDC 23)
- Maintain current knowledge of RDA cataloguing rules
- Working knowledge of French would be an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform individually and as part of a team
- Ability to work with constant interruptions
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to maintain close attention to detail for periods of sustained duration
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED :
Computers (UNIX and PC), specialized printers (labels, cards), and other office-related equipment.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
- Sufficient vision to operate computer
- Fundamental ability to operate office equipment
