The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a non-tenure track Replacement Professor position in Food Science, within the School of Nutrition Sciences.

Title of the position: Replacement professor in Food Science at the rank of assistant professor.

Duties: The functions of the replacement professor include, in varying proportions:

  • Teaching on and off campus;
  • Course preparation activities, including e-learning curriculum;
  • Development of lab sessions, including advanced food techniques, in food science courses;
  • Academic and administrative service activities.

Terms: Replacement professor for a two-year contract, with the possibility of one renewal.

Wage: Salary scale for an assistant professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Skills requirements:

  • Education: PhD or equivalent in Food Science, with emphasis on food chemistry, food physics, food processing or food analysis. Postdoctoral experience in Food Science is preferred.
  • Work experience:
    • A demonstrated track record of teaching and course development in food science is preferred.
    • A commitment to teaching and a strong record of interdisciplinary collaboration.
    • Excellent communication skills in either English or French. English-French bilingualism is an asset.
