Job summary

BELFOR (Canada) Inc. is seeking a Repair and Restoration Technician to support restoration projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sites.

You will apply carpentry fundamentals, read blueprints, and ensure work meets client and insurance requirements with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. The role involves independent and team work, detailed planning, and proactive communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and safeguarding property and confidential information.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare material take-offs, read blueprints, interpret work orders, and apply building codes and construction math to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Perform restoration tasks across residential and commercial projects.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting project completion, communicating with the Project Manager to stay on track with timelines and quality expectations.
• Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders via professional communication.
• Promote a safe and organized work environment by conducting hazard assessments, maintaining job sites, and ensuring proper use and upkeep of tools and PPE.
• Report and document unsafe conditions or incidents, participate in safety training and inspections, and uphold safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Repair and Restoration Technician plays a key role in supporting restoration projects across residential, commercial, and industrial settings . With an intermediate to advanced understanding of carpentry and construction fundamentals, this position ensures that work is completed to the highest standards while meeting both client and insurance requirements.

Working both independently and as part of a team, the Technician delivers quality craftsmanship, collaborates effectively with stakeholders, and contributes to successful project outcomes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare material take-offs, read blueprints, interpret work orders, and apply building codes and construction math to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Perform a variety of restoration tasks, from site preparation through to job completion, across residential and commercial projects.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting project completion, proactively communicating with the Project Manager to stay on track with timelines and quality expectations.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders by providing professional, timely, and accurate communication.
• Promote a safe and organized work environment by conducting hazard assessments, maintaining job sites, and ensuring proper use, storage, and upkeep of tools, equipment, and PPE.
• Report and document unsafe conditions or incidents, participate in safety training and inspections, and uphold organizational safety initiatives.

Nice To Have:

• 1+ years of experience within the construction, restoration or insurance industry;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite;
• Understanding of customer service principles and practices; and
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism

Working Conditions

Due to the nature of our business, this position will work normal business hours but may be required to work in the evenings, on-call, or outside normal working hours;

Perform tasks requiring mobility in tight or confined spaces, sustained physical activity (standing, lifting, walking, bending, kneeling), and working at heights over 5 feet as needed;

Manual dexterity for keyboarding, repetitive tasks, and prolonged periods of computer use, demanding attention to detail and high levels of accuracy; and

Periodic travel may be required.
