NNPBC is seeking a motivated and creative Student, Communications & Engagement. This is a remote role aligned with Canada Summer Jobs, offering hands-on experience in digital communications, social media management, and content development while supporting the visibility and engagement of our organization.

Reporting to the Director, Communications & Engagement, you will assist in maintaining our online presence, supporting outreach activities, and ensuring accessible, engaging communications

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program in British Columbia.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of Mailchimp, website CMS (e.g., WordPress) and/or Canva is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities and contribute to a collaborative team.
  • A mix of formal education and/or lived, community-based experience that demonstrates readiness to contribute meaningfully to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the launch of NNPBC’s new website through content migration, formatting, updates and quality assurance.
  • Assist with updating webpages, blogs, resource listings and other member-facing content in WordPress.
  • Generate and schedule social media posts within an established content calendar.
  • Monitor social media accounts and support audience engagement.
  • Keep tools such as Linktree updated with current links and information.
  • Ensure digital content follows accessibility best practices, including appropriate alt text.
  • Maintain organized digital files, spreadsheets and content trackers.
  • Perform other communications-related tasks as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Communications & Engagement
Work Arrangement: Remote within British Columbia
Type: Term from June 29 – August 29, 2026; 35 hours per week
Wage: $22.50 per hour

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of British Columbia (NNPBC) is the professional association representing all four nursing designations in BC – Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs).

Role Summary

NNPBC is seeking a motivated and creative Student, Communications & Engagement.

This is an exciting time to join NNPBC. Alongside our ongoing communications and engagement work, we are preparing to launch a newly redesigned organizational website this summer and are looking for someone eager to support content migration, digital engagement, and the ongoing stabilization and refinement of this important new platform.

This role provides an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in digital communications, social media management, website content, and content development while contributing to the visibility and engagement of our organization.

Reporting to the Director, Communications & Engagement, our Student, Communications & Engagement will assist in maintaining our online presence, supporting outreach activities, and ensuring our communications are accessible, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This role includes a variety of duties, such as:

Website Content and Launch Support
  • Support the launch of NNPBC’s new website through content migration, formatting, updates and quality assurance
  • Assist with updating webpages, blogs, resource listings and other member-facing content in WordPress
  • Help review website content for accuracy, accessibility and consistency
Social Media and Digital Communications
  • Generate and schedule social media posts within an established content calendar
  • Monitor social media accounts and support audience engagement
  • Conduct basic research to support content creation and amplification opportunities
  • Keep tools such as Linktree updated with current links and information
  • Ensure digital content follows accessibility best practices, including appropriate alt text
Administrative and Team Support
  • Maintain organized digital files, spreadsheets and content trackers
  • Perform other communications-related tasks as assigned
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills
  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program in British Columbia, such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, English, Writing, Business, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications & Experience

To perform the role successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of Mailchimp, website CMS (e.g., WordPress) and/or Canva is an asset
