Job summary

Shell in Sarnia, Ontario, is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to provide technical assurance, reliability support, and project development for rotating equipment across the site.

The role supports operations, maintenance, reliability, and projects to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of pumps, compressors, turbines, seals, bearings, and related systems, including major outages and turnarounds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline (10+ years' experience)
• Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for registration in Ontario
• Experience with rotating equipment in refining, petrochemical, chemical, mining, power or heavy industry
• Knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, seals, bearings, lubrication, vibration analysis and reliability principles
• Strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for site rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, seals, bearings, lubrication systems)
• Lead root cause investigations and troubleshooting of equipment failures
• Plan and execute outages, upgrades, and reliability improvement programs
• Collaborate with operations, reliability, maintenance, planning, and production teams
• Support capital projects through design reviews, equipment selection, commissioning and startup
• Mentor developing engineers and machinery specialists
