Job summary

Crafty Apes is seeking an experienced compositor to drive ML-assisted VFX workflows from asset setup through final integration. The role emphasizes high-quality Nuke-based outputs, shot-driven pipelines, and collaboration with ML teams to refine tools and processes.

You will work on production-ready elements across episodic and feature projects, with a strong focus on color management, edge quality, and plate fidelity, while supporting remote operations within British Columbia.

Qualifications

• Strong production experience in Foundry Nuke with photorealistic results.
• Ability to own shots from prep to final, delivering comp solutions and ML-generated outputs.
• Expert-level CG compositing and multi-pass workflows.
• Basic scripting (Python, shell) for troubleshooting execution environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate proprietary and production ML tools to generate, process, and package high-quality elements and passes for the compositing and other departments.
• Asset ingestion, setup, and curation of project datasets adhering to studio pipeline conventions and ML workflows.
• Use advanced Nuke compositing to integrate, test, and tune ML-generated outputs with color consistency and plate fidelity.
• Collaborate with ML Supervisor and pipeline developers to test prototype toolsets on live production shots and suggest enhancements.
• Workflow troubleshooting: identify artifacts or quality drops and apply compositing solutions or adjust inputs to meet aesthetic standards.
• Documentation and asset tracking: record shot deliveries, model versions, and dependencies across shows.
