Job summary

Sadfish is seeking skilled hand-drawn animators to bring a sports documentary to life. As a 2D Animator, you will animate characters and sequences from established storyboards and designs, reporting to the Animation Director to ensure high-quality animation within deadlines.

The project uses 2D traditional animation with a looser, stylized look. Start date is November 2026, and you must provide your own hardware and Toon Boom Harmony Premium.

Qualifications

• Ontario, Canada based freelance animator with 2–3 years of hand-drawn 2D animation experience.
• Strong understanding of human anatomy, movement, and athletic action.
• Experience with frame-by-frame techniques, timing, spacing, and posing.
• Portfolio with 2D animation samples.
• Proficiency in Toon Boom Harmony Premium.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review storyboards and character designs to animate accordingly.
• Animate objects and characters per direction and storyboards.
• Maintain consistency in character design, proportion and animation quality.
• Ensure project file integrity and compatibility with the team.
• Incorporate feedback from Animation Director and Lead.
• Collaborate with the animation team to align with the creative vision.
• Deliver blocking, roughs, tie-downs, lipsync, and cleanups as needed.
