Job summary

The Law Society of Ontario is seeking a Forensic Auditor, Investigation Services based in Toronto to lead independent forensic investigations into professional conduct, competence and regulatory compliance of licensees, using advanced accounting and investigative techniques.

The role requires university degree with accounting designation, at least five years forensic experience, and ability to travel as needed; hybrid work with on-site visits, strong writing and analytical skills and experience

Qualifications

  • University degree and professional accounting designation with Canadian body.
  • Forensic accounting experience of at least five years in regulatory or similar environment.
  • Ability to work from home and attend licensees' offices; travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates serious and complex matters including professional misconduct, conduct unbecoming, competence, licensing, capacity and unauthorized practice.
  • Independently plans, conducts and makes recommendations for the disposition of forensic investigations.
  • Develops case files to prosecutorial and evidentiary standards; acts as expert witness if required.
  • Assesses need for remedial actions and advises on resolution of investigation files.
