Job summary

Leap Tools is seeking an experienced backend engineer to lead design and delivery of scalable backend systems for our AI-powered interior décor platform. You will mentor senior engineers, influence technical direction, and collaborate with product and engineering leaders to plan for growth.

You will work in a remote-first environment with a strong ownership culture, delivering high-quality APIs, data pipelines, and services used by millions worldwide.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience in production environments.
• Strong experience with complex ETL flows and high-throughput systems.
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, networking and databases.
• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems with performance and observability in mind.
• Strong architectural instincts and ability to drive cross-team technical decisions.
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering practices.
• Ownership mindset with the drive to deliver lasting impact.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive design, architecture, and delivery of complex backend systems enabling 3D and computer vision at scale.
• Lead development of mission-critical APIs, data pipelines, and services for high-traffic apps.
• Partner with product/engineering leaders to define technical direction and scale.
• Mentor senior engineers and conduct architecture reviews to ensure quality and velocity.
• Set technical standards for backend systems focusing on scalability and maintainability.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across teams and stakeholders.
• Help shape long-term technical vision and culture of the engineering org.
• Influence hiring, onboarding, and growth strategies.
