Job summary

Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization remotely, based in British Columbia or Alberta, with periodic travel. Reporting to the Board, the ED will set strategy, manage finances, and guide programs to deliver measurable conservation outcomes.

The successful candidate will balance big-picture leadership with practical nonprofit management, build funding partnerships, and lead staff, governance and external relations to advance

Qualifications

• A degree or higher in natural resource management, environmental science, conservation, biology, forestry, business or nonprofit management.
• Significant leadership experience in nonprofit management with budgets and staff.
• Proven ability to develop funding proposals and manage relationships with funders.
• At least three years' experience managing programs and projects with multiple priorities.
• Strong financial management experience and reporting.
• Experience collaborating with diverse partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction aligned with the Board’s priorities.
• Translate strategy into annual workplans, budgets and objectives.
• Oversee fundraising, revenue development and funding opportunities.
• Ensure financial controls, reporting and regulatory compliance.
• Lead staff, governance support, and organizational operations.
• Represent WPEFC with partners, funders and the public.
