Job summary

Akamai seeks an hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team delivering high-quality IAM features and tools. You will balance technical oversight with people management, coaching engineers, clarifying requirements and driving execution.

You will shape backend architecture, mentor staff, and partner with product, QA and SRE teams to ensure cohesive user experiences. Remote/hybrid work options are available and strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant engineering leadership experience.
• Strong Python backend knowledge.
• Solid understanding of large, low-latency distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on IAM features and tools.
• Provide technical direction and best practices for backend architecture and development.
• Partner with product management, QA, SRE and other teams to deliver cohesive user experiences.
• Oversee delivery across the full project lifecycle: planning, development, testing and release.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance feedback and career growth for team members.
