Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage, Inc. seeks a Construction Manager to lead Canada-wide construction projects remotely with frequent travel to sites.

Reporting to EVP of Canada, you’ll manage contracts, budgets, schedules, and coordination across vendors, architects and engineers in a multi-site portfolio. The ideal candidate has a engineering/Construction Management degree, 5+ years of experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel across Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum five years’ direct experience.
• Experience with multi-site locations; self-storage experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Thorough understanding of construction and codes.
• Ability to work remotely with travel; valid driver's license and passport.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and issue prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Perform project contract administration per company policies.
• Monitor project costs through change orders and adjustments.
• Develop recovery strategies when schedule or budget are at risk.
• Coordinate schedule, costs, and progress with construction team.
• Collaborate with accounting for payments and recoverable costs.
• Travel to project sites across Canada to oversee progress, quality, and compliance.
• Direct construction administrative staff.
