Job summary

Habitat Learn Inc. is seeking Note Takers and Captioners to support students remotely during the Winter semester (Jan 2027). Roles involve attending classes remotely, typing notes, and creating verbatim captions to help students overcome barriers in learning.

Preference will be given to those with STEM backgrounds, though all subjects are welcome. Flex schedules and ongoing opportunities will apply, with assignments varying based on student timetables.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary education or about to graduate.
• Typing speed of 75+ wpm.
• Comfortable in an academic environment.
• Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities.
• Use of own personal laptop.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to analyze and process information quickly.
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Minimum of 2 professional references.
• Police Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Type information on a laptop at a university lecture or in informal classes.
• Captioning – creating a verbatim transcription of what the instructor said.
• Note taking – recording key information from lectures as a study aid.
