Job summary

Sagen in Canada is seeking a Bilingual Underwriter to underwrite and approve mortgage insurance applications, reporting to the Senior Manager, Underwriting. This role requires proficiency in English and French and a commitment to delivering top-tier service to lenders and borrowers.

You will analyze credit and appraisal reports, manage high-volume underwriting tasks, and collaborate with field staff to promote Sagen products while upholding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years progressive experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
• In-depth knowledge of credit and underwriting practices.
• Ability to interpret appraisal reports.
• Strong math skills for self-employed borrower analysis.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and approve mortgage loan applications in line with guidelines.
• Provide highest level of internal and external customer service.
• Manage underwriting and service processes for key lender accounts.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Sagen policies and products.
• Provide underwriting and credit expertise for customers and field staff.
• Handle inquiries, build relationships, and promote products.
• Assist in regional and quality projects.
• Collaborate effectively in a high-volume team environment.
