Job summary

BPM is seeking an Assurance Senior to bolster our Ontario practice with hands-on audit execution and leadership across diverse clients. You will guide planning, staffing, and reporting while collaborating with firm leaders and client personnel to ensure quality engagements.

  • Licensed CPA, or in the process of obtaining the CPA.
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in public accounting in a variety of industries; SEC experience preferred.
  • Experience auditing complex accounts like inventory, revenue, equity/stock options.
  • Demonstrated leadership/supervisor experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn.
  • Ability to synthesize research into clear deliverables.
  • U.S. accounting credentials may be required.

This is a newly created role and will be pivotal in ensuring we can continue offering our full range of services to clients. As an Assurance Senior, you will assist with audits and work closely with firm leaders and client personnel to complete assurance engagements.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for day-to-day planning and execution of multiple client engagements throughout the year.
  • Supervise associate level professionals and delegate engagement responsibilities.
  • Responsible for communicating and resolving all issues that arise during the audit engagement with the support of the engagement manager.
  • Develop and execute audit strategy from planning to reporting.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, thus driving client satisfaction.
  • Research, understand and apply complex accounting concepts and auditing procedures.
  • Draft financials and report audit findings (both verbal and written).
  • Develop, motivate, and mentor associates by providing training, regular feedback and career guidance while fostering a team environment.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of U.S. accounting standards (GAAP), regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage complex engagements involving multi-jurisdictional financial reporting, U.S. tax law, and international business practices.
  • Advise clients on U.S. specific regulatory changes, risk management, and industry best practices, ensuring compliance across diverse markets.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address the unique challenges of servicing U.S.-based clients, including higher volume, complexity, and risk exposure.
Requirements:

  • U.S. accounting credentials may be required.

$94,000 – $115,000 a year

This compensation range provided is intended for candidates in Ontario, Canada, who meet the requirements of the position. Candidates who do not reside in Ontario, do not meet the minimum requirements, or exceed the requirements are encouraged to apply and a recruiter will provide you with a range specific to your location and qualifications. In accordance with Ontario’s pay transparency legislation, the posted compensation range, if applicable, will reflect the scope and responsibilities associated with the role. Positions supporting clients across multiple jurisdictions involve additional regulatory considerations, cross-border coordination, and broader compliance requirements compared to roles focused on a single local market. Hours of work and travel expectations may vary based on role scope and are considered in determining compensation. These factors, along with credential requirements and market benchmarks, are incorporated into compensation ranges to ensure alignment with industry standards and the specialized expertise required. Compensation includes base salary and any non-discretionary bonuses or commissions. If the top of the compensation range exceeds $200,000 annually, specific details will be provided during the recruitment process instead of being posted, in compliance with legislation.
