Job summary

TELUS Digital AI Community is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to contribute to ASR, TTS, and voice-focused AI projects. The role involves evaluating AI-generated speech, reviewing recognition outputs, and performing professional audio editing to ensure high-quality datasets and models.

You will work as an independent contractor with flexible remote engagement, applying expertise in phonetics, linguistics, and audio engineering to support global voice technology initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education in one of the listed audio/speech fields or CS with emphasis on speech/AI.
• Professional experience in voice recording.
• Experience with at least one professional audio tool (listed).
• Knowledge of audio editing/restoration, segmentation, and spectrogram analysis.
• Ability to identify pronunciation, accents, and linguistic nuances.
• English proficient for technical instructions and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness and quality.
• Review ASR outputs for transcription and pronunciation accuracy.
• Perform audio editing tasks: segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, quality enhancement.
• Analyze recordings using waveform/spectrogram tools to identify issues.
• Support creation/validation of high-quality speech datasets.
• Review voice recordings for clarity and technical quality.
• Run audio quality checks: loudness, noise, clipping, export specs.
• Support voice AI projects including TTS/ASR and voice generation.
• Apply phonetics/linguistics knowledge to improve AI voices.
