Job Overview:

The Reminiscence Coordinator is responsible for providing overall leadership and management of the reminiscence neighborhood. Responsibilities include promoting excellence in resident care in accordance with each resident’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP), programming, providing outreach and support to families, being resourceful and knowledgeable with the Family Resource Library and the evolving information on Alzheimer’s disease. Responsible for championing the designated care manager concept throughout the neighborhood, assisting in recruiting, hiring, and training team members, completing staffing, scheduling, and timekeeping review, team member recognition, engagement, and performance management.

  • Plan, organize, develop, and lead the operation of the reminiscence neighborhood(s) in accordance with laws and Sunrise standards.
  • Champion the quality delivery of the Resident-Centered model.
  • Act as the community champion in reminiscence programming and activities.
  • Partner with the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure appropriate, individualized activities are available and residents are engaged.
  • Design, schedule, and facilitate the reminiscence program with dementia-appropriate activities.
  • Partner with the Resident Care Director to address residents' clinical needs.
  • Review resident preferences and needs before move-in and schedule Family Meetings.
  • Facilitate ISP and Daily Assignment Sheet development for quality service and safety.
  • Support assessments to determine care levels and staffing.
  • Oversee planning for family events and services.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment regarding resident needs.
  • Partner with dining services to meet individual resident needs and participate in daily dining experiences.
  • Monitor resident condition changes and communicate with families accordingly.
  • Review clinical alerts and document pertinent information.
  • Establish relationships with Alzheimer’s organizations and facilitate community educational support.
  • Ensure family support groups are planned and facilitated.
  • Work with RCD to ensure compliance with clinical indicators and benchmarks.

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure community compliance with laws, regulations, and Sunrise standards.
  • Develop plans to correct deficiencies and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations.
  • Promote occupational health and safety standards.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in presenting Sunrise’s services and managing department budgets.
  • Review financial statements and implement corrective actions.
  • Process expenses and coordinate with the team for cost efficiency.

Training, Leadership, and Team Development:

  • Manage recruitment, supervision, training, and coaching of staff.
  • Ensure completion of team member paperwork and training requirements.
  • Provide ongoing education and development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster team engagement.

Core Competencies:

  • Handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Delegate appropriately based on skills and roles.
  • Communicate effectively and facilitate group presentations.
  • Demonstrate organizational and decision-making skills.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • One year supervisory experience preferred, especially in dementia care and staff management.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Sunrise applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
