Job summary

Harvest Operations Corp. is seeking a Remediation and Reclamation Coordinator to oversee coordination, execution, and control of all reclamation and remediation activities across operating areas from the Calgary Corporate Office.

This permanent full-time role reports to the Team Lead, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance. The candidate will develop budgets, manage regulatory submissions, and lead planning for decommissioning and remediation programs while ensuring cost-efficiency and

Qualifications

  • University degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of oil & gas environmental industry experience is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, guidelines, standards and best practices.
  • Experience developing reclamation & remediation programs and reducing environmental liability.
  • Strong understanding of federal and provincial regulations related to reclamation & remediation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate decommissioning, remediation and reclamation activities, including workplan approval, budgeting, reporting and management of environmental consultants.
  • Develop and maintain reclamation & remediation budgets, track costs and progress reporting.
  • Ensure projects are area-based, bid out where possible, minimize mobilizations and select best consultants/vendors.
  • Proactively manage and reduce Harvest liability while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Establish a central repository of locations, site status, risk and cost.

Harvest Operations is currently recruiting a Remediation and Reclamation Coordinator, reporting to the Team Lead, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance. The Remediation and Reclamation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination, execution and control of all reclamation & remediation activities in all operating areas. This is a permanent full-time position based out of the Calgary Corporate Office.

What you will do
  • Prepare, communicate and seek approval of annual budgets. Coordinate decommissioning, remediation and reclamation activities, including workplan approval and monitoring, site and work prioritization, reporting, and management of environmental consultants.
  • Develop and maintain reclamation & remediation budgets, cost tracking, accruals, progress reporting.
  • Ensure projects are area based on reducing costs, projects are bid out when possible, mobilizations are minimized and reviews are completed to ensure the best consultants and vendors are utilized for all work
  • Proactively manage and reduce Harvest liability while maintaining regulatory compliance
  • Establish a central repository of all locations, site status, risk, cost.
Technical Oversight
  • Provide subject matter expertise to lead reclamation & remediation planning and strategizing. Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to Harvest field operations.
  • Review all environmental reporting submitted to Harvest and ensure submission to regulatory bodies is complete.
  • Respond to and advise on spill response projects, ensure rapid mobilization of resources, communication with all stakeholders and the formulation of remediation plans following the initial response process, as well as training of operations staff as required for spill reporting and spill response preparation.
  • Expert level awareness of all federal and provincial regulations and guidelines
  • Support and provide guidance on aspects of Harvest EPEA approvals role such as Soi Monitoring, Annual Conservation and Reclamation Report, Groundwater Monitoring Program, Wetland monitoring.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Provide technical support, as required, to Acquisition & Disposition diligence programs.
  • Promote adherence to the Harvest Environmental Health & Safety Management System.
  • Ensure proper notifications are completed, work is completed as per all Harvest guidance (i.e. Ground Disturbance) and all affected stakeholders are included (i.e.landowners, municipalities, First Nations)
What are we looking for
  • University degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline. Project Management Experience, PMP would be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience within the oil & gas environmental industry; field-based experience is considered a significant asset
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental and regulatory regulations, guidelines, standards and best industry practices
  • Experience in the development and implementation of reclamation & remediation programs and reduction of environmental liability.
  • Expert level awareness on federal and provincial regulations and guidelines related to reclamation & remediation.
