Job description

Three Oaks Foundation (TOF) , located in Belleville , provides emergency shelter, second stage housing, supportive counselling and outreach services to abused women and their children in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

TOF is seeking * female applicants for a Relief/ Shift Work Women’s Services Worker

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge, familiarity and experience working in violence against women and their children.
  • Excellent counselling and crisis intervention skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide on-site and telephone crisis intervention support, referrals and advocacy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in the areas of domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of the correlation between domestic violence, addictions and mental health.
  • Knowledge of, and experience implementing, non-violent crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills, with the ability to multitask.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of local and area community resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Professional belief system that is compatible with the mission statement, beliefs and aims of Three Oaks Foundation.
Additional Information:
  • MUST HAVE Diploma/ Degree in a related Social Services field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience working in a women’s shelter
  • Second Language/ multilingual, including ASL an asset
  • First Aid and CPR an asset
