Job summary

The Salvation Army delivers compassionate care in community settings. We are seeking a Relief Residential Counsellor to plan and implement individualized programs for adults with developmental disabilities within Lawson Ministries Programs.

Shifts vary and may include days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. You will promote independence, support physical needs, and coordinate meals and personal care as required.

Qualifications

• Formal post-secondary/college program: Developmental Social Worker Diploma or equivalent.
• Current First Aid & CPR with Defibrillation training or willingness to obtain.
• Current Non Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certification (CPI) or willingness to obtain.
• Provide original Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Ontario Class G or G2 Driver's license and a current Driver’s Abstract.
• Minimum 1 year experience with adults with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement person-directed plans with service users and staff.
• Support service users' emotional and psychological needs.
• Record daily logs, shift and incident reports accurately using AIMS software.
• Assist with transportation of service users as required.
• Collaborate with program Supervisors/Directors for consistent care.
• Respond to emergencies during shifts.
