Dixon Hall seeks a Relief Personal Support Worker in Toronto to assist frail or ill residents in daily living activities, provide companionship, and ensure health monitoring. Candidates must hold a PSW certificate and have at least one year of relevant experience. This role involves both personal care and household management, emphasizing interpersonal skills and emergency responsiveness.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Assisted Living and Home Support Programs, the Relief Personal Support Worker (PSW) assists residents who are frail or ill to complete activities of daily living. The Relief PSWs follows a pre-determined service plan that usually involves a combination of personal care and essential homemaking tasks. The PSWs may be required to work with clients who smoke or have pets in the home.
The Relief PSWs also provides important companionship and emotional support. The Relief PSWs is responsible for observing and reporting any changes in residents’ health or social status and for keeping records of each resident’s service plan. The Relief PSWs responds to all requests for emergency assistance and is responsible for assessing the type of emergency and intervention required. The Relief PSW should be capable of working with clients of diverse social, cultural, and language backgrounds.
