A leading company is seeking a Reliability Technologist at their Halifax Shipyard to design and plan maintenance projects. The role requires strong technical skills in instrumentation, robotics, and PLCs along with project management capabilities. Candidates must have Engineering Technologist Certification and a proven ability to work in multi-disciplined teams, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with industry standards.
The Reliability Technologist can design, improve, and plan maintenance and reliability projects needed for repairs and improvements ensuring they meet specification and regulatory requirements. In this position the specialist will provide technical support and lead projects and tasks supporting the Maintenance & Reliability Department daily activities ensuring equipment reliability requirements are fulfilled. The Role will be responsible to analyse business trends, manage assigned task and project budgets, develop custom reporting and identify opportunities and recommend changes to improve reliability and cost savings. An engineering technologist can be an asset in supporting electricians, mechanics, and staff in the field as a specialist for technical subjects where we lack expertise such as instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and robotics. This type of support will help our business by reducing our dependence on contractors and third-party consultants.
This staff position is based at the Halifax Shipyard and reports to the Manager, Reliability. This position supports the vision, initiatives and strategy of the Facilities and Maintenance team at Irving Shipbuilding, providing support to Production and operations.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
