THE ROLE

The Relationship Manager will support the Canadian institutional relationship management team on all aspects of the client experience, including, but not limited to building relationships with internal and external partners, leveraging tools and technology to support delivering excellence to our clients, and communicating client requirements within MFS to proactively anticipate client needs through thoughtful dialogue and engagement. The ideal candidate brings a solutions-focused, client-first mindset with a keen interest in using technology to enhance service delivery as well as demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment. The candidate should be fluent in French (written and spoken) and will be expected to actively contribute to external and internal client relationship management strategies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support relationship directors in delivering excellence to our premier institutional clients.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for day-to-day client inquiries and service requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Leverage digital solutions tools such as Salesforce, Seismic, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. to manage client data, automate reporting, track engagement, and identify opportunities for proactive outreach.
  • Partner with internal teams (investment, product, operations, compliance, client service, sales enablement) to coordinate responses to client needs and ensure seamless communication.
  • Analyze client data and behavior to generate insights that drive retention strategies and deepen relationships.
  • Assist in the preparation of client meeting materials, RFP responses, and other communications.
  • Stay current on industry trends, client portfolio activity, and firm-wide updates to provide relevant and timely information to clients.
  • Develop a solid understanding of MFS' range of investment strategies.
  • Anticipate and develop opportunities to expand and strengthen the client relationship.
  • Educate clients through relevant MFS thought leadership pieces and multi-disciplinary capabilities of MFS; keep clients informed of product/organizational enhancements, and relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.
  • Assist with client meeting preparation with internal teams, execution, and follow-up.
  • Keep appropriate parties (i.e., Sales, Marketing, Portfolio Management, MFSI Management) abreast of client needs and developments to ensure that goals are met.
  • Work with the Investment Team to ensure investment presentations meet client needs.
  • Work with the transition team to smoothly establish new relationships.
  • Support initiatives associated with client conferences and firm sponsored events.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree and/or post-graduate education in a related area. Five or more years of work experience in the institutional investment industry or other professional field.
  • Fluent in French (written and spoken).
  • Advanced competencies with technological tools and/or digital solutions (i.e., CRM software, Microsoft Suite, programming languages, etc.).
  • Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in and/or experience with developing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Passion for the financial markets, including knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets.
  • Interest in and understanding of the sustainable investing landscape.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across a variety of operating functions globally at MFS, and to travel as required.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Appropriate Canadian Registration (Advising Representative or Associate Advising Representative) an asset; will facilitate with registration process, if not.
  • Interest in pursuing Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation encouraged.
