Job Title : Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking

Job Summary :

Bank of China (Canada) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Relationship Manager to join our Commercial Banking team in British Columbia. This role focuses on developing national and commercial client relationships, expanding the Bank’s balance sheet through loan and deposit growth, and managing post-lending activities. The successful candidate will have deep credit knowledge, a strong presence in the BC commercial market, and a proactive approach to business development.

What You Will Do :

  • Develop and manage relationships with National Accounts and Corporate / Commercial clients , particularly in sectors such as mining, forestry, and trade finance .
  • Originate and sell credit and non-credit banking solutions tailored to large public and private companies (typically with annual revenue over C$500M).
  • Conduct detailed credit due diligence , prepare credit proposals, and manage post-lending activities including loan disbursement, monitoring, and annual reviews.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends, prospects, and risks in British Columbia, and identify strategic business opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with risk, compliance, legal, and other departments to ensure transactions are properly reviewed and documented.
  • Promote the Bank’s full suite of products and services by leveraging strong knowledge of corporate / commercial lending, trade finance, deposits, and customer profitability models .
  • Represent the Bank at industry events , networking meetings, and client engagements to enhance our market visibility and client reach.
  • Contribute to the risk culture of the Bank by maintaining high standards of compliance, reporting, and internal communication.

What You Bring to the Table :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 5+ years of corporate / commercial banking experience , specifically working with large enterprises or capital market clients in British Columbia.
  • Deep experience in credit assessment, project finance, and / or M&A financing .
  • A strong network of contacts among Canadian financial institutions and large corporate clients .
  • Excellent interpersonal, sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics, and independent judgment in client representation and decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills , Mandarin is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate banking systems.
  • Strong sense of teamwork, accountability , and drive for performance excellence .
