Job summary

Educators Financial Group is seeking a proactive Relationship Development Associate to expand its presence in the education community by connecting educators with financial solutions. The role involves extensive province-wide travel to engage, educate, and welcome new clients through networking events, conferences, district visits, webinars, and workshops.

The position reports to the Manager, Relationship Development.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in business, corporate finance, commerce, or a related subject.
  • Completion of Investment Funds in Canada/Canadian Securities Course Certification within 4 months of employment start.
  • Minimum three years of financial services industry/advisory experience with a sales/business development focus.
  • Strong English communication skills; French would be an asset.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for business travel.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly deliver province-wide webinars and in-person workshops on financial planning topics.
  • Promote engagement in the education community at events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Grow networks and refer opportunities to sales teams through visits and outreach.
  • Source leads via in-market activities (lunch & learns, webinars, workshops).
  • Plan and execute community events and establish a district outreach plan.
  • Implement market initiatives to drive lead generation and adapt strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Client Advisory Services to update workshop content.

Compensation and benefits packages include:

  • Annual salary (hiring range): $70,000 - $82,000(subject to the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications and skills), plus annual Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) bonus.

  • Health Benefits Plan, including Extended Health, Dental & Vision coverage, Basic Life Insurance, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Benefits and Employee Assistance Programs. Premiums are paid by the company, with the exception of LTD premium.

  • Defined benefit pension plan, with the company’s contribution ranging from 6% to 8% to provide employees with a predictable lifetime retirement income, survivor benefits, early retirement options.

  • Remote work arrangements with an expectation to attend company-wide events, trainings, Town Halls organized at the Educators Head Office.

About the Role

We’re seeking a proactive Relationship Development Associate who will play a key role in expanding Educators Financial Group's presence within the education community by building meaningful relationships and connecting educators with valuable financial solutions.

In this dynamic, client-facing role, the incumbent will be travelling a lot across the province to engage, educate, and welcome new clients through networking events, conferences, district visits, webinars, and workshops. Success in this position comes from a genuine passion for relationship-building, an ability to influence and connect with people and a commitment to helping educators achieve their financial goals.

The position reports to the Manager, Relationship Development.

This is a newly created role within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly deliver province-wide webinars and in-person workshops on a variety of financial planning topics, collaborating closely with the Client Advisory Services Team to foster client education and engagement across the province.

  • Participate in education, civic events, and activities to promote engagement in the education community, including attending teachers’ provincial council meetings and annual conferences.

  • Visit key influencers and maintain an active and visible role through the development of internal and external networks to capitalize on business opportunities and referrals to the sales teams.

  • Source leads through the hosting of in-market business level activities (lunch and learns, webinars, workshops etc.).

  • Plan, execute, and follow-up on community, and organizational events that will drive leads. Establish and maintain a district outreach plan.

  • Implement initiatives to respond to a changing marketplace, and corrective action strategies to achieve lead generation.

  • Collaborate with SMEs (Marketing and Client Advisory Services Teams) to update and maintain workshop and webinar presentations, ensuring engaging and accurate content that supports business growth initiatives.

Qualifications
  • University degree or College diploma in business, corporate finance, commerce, or a related subject

  • Completion of Investment Funds in Canada/Canadian Securities Course Certification upon hire or within 4 months of employment start

  • Minimum three years of financial services industry/advisory experience as well as a successful track record in a business development or sales-oriented role

  • Strong English (both oral and written) communication skills. Proficiency in French would be an asset

  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills

  • Personable communication style with the ability to convey information clearly, professionally, and confidently

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of defined benefit pension plans, benefits, union structure, educator-specific pay grids, bargaining units, etc.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence. Access to a personal vehicle for business travel along with appropriate auto insurance coverage for business use
