Job summary

Sinai Health's Reactivation Care Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is seeking an Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant. You will support therapists with exercise programs, mobility training and ADL activities, contributing to patient independence during post-acute recovery.

You will work in a small interdisciplinary team, supervise routine exercises, document progress, and ensure safety and infection control. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited community college occupational therapy/physiotherapy assistant program.
• 1 year of experience in acute care.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and computerized databases.
• Demonstrates organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Shows initiative and problem-solving ability; reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise patients and ensure completion of routine exercise programs and apply simple local treatment modalities.
• Record workload measurement activities.
• Implement interventions including exercise, mobility training and ADL practice under OT/PT direction.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to address goals and contribute to discharge planning.
• Provide timely feedback on patient progression to support therapeutic adjustments.
• Document progress in electronic health records with objective outcomes.
• Prepare and maintain therapeutic equipment, ensuring safety and infection control.
• Education to patients and families on exercises, equipment use and ADL techniques.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to support care planning.
• Work with patients of varying acuity who may require supplemental oxygen.
• Assist OTs in creating cushions and thermoplastic splints.
• Perform other duties consistent with the role.
